Baccarat Rules

Because there is little for the participant to do asides from making a bet every deal, baccarat really is a simple casino game to enjoy. Both the player and the house have no judgements to make, as the rules decide what happens next.

The idea of the game is to get closer to 9 with your card count then the dealer does. Different from Blackjack, you are not able to “bust”. In the game when a total is ten or greater, then ten is taken so that the result is at all times between 0 and 9.

Once the player has decided to put money on a tie, the banker or players hand, they both get 2 cards.

When the players hand or dealers hand is 8 or 9, they’ve got a “Natural” and neither draws any more cards. When both the player and banker have a ‘natural’, then it is a tie.

If neither one receives a ‘natural’ during the initial deal, what happens after that is dependent on the hand values.

The player goes initially:

Players Hand: Players Required Action:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Takes a card
6, 7 No further cards

Once the players cards have been dealt, the bankers actions are based off the players hand.

The Bankers Required Action:
0, 1 or 2 Anything Draws a card
3 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 Takes a card
8 No further cards
9 Stay
4 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Takes a card
0, 1, 8 or 9 Stays
5 5, 6 or 7 Draws a card
0, 1, 2, 3, 8 or 9 No further cards
4 Draws a card
6 6 or 7 Draws a card
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 or 9 Stay
7 Anything No further cards

Following the deal, the hand with a value closer to nine wins.
